The Origin Story

The Urban Stripmall didn't start as a luxury brand. It started as a idea — a belief that the neighborhood shopping experience deserved to exist online. We launched as Discount'd Accessories, an online shoes and accessories store, and from that foundation we began to build something larger: an open-source retail and entertainment platform designed to give small businesses and independent vendors a home on the internet.

Over the years, USM grew to host multiple vendors across categories including Apparel, Footwear, Accessories, Jewelry, Entertainment, Books, Audio, Video, and more. We welcomed vendors, connected shoppers across the globe, and worked to build one of the most recognized independent online retail communities on the internet.

That open-source model taught us something valuable: not everyone who says they're serious, is serious. We invested time, resources, and energy into building infrastructure for vendors who weren't ready for it. So we made a decision — we closed the open doors, restructured, and rebuilt with purpose.
